The KIIT School of Public Health (KSPH), in partnership with Wadhwani AI and Access Health International, conducted a three-day training program as part of the study titled “Accuracy Assessment of AI-powered Anthropometry Solution, Odisha”. This project, which is being implemented in Khordha District, Odisha, seeks to enhance the precision of child anthropometric measurements through application of artificial intelligence.

During the initial two days, participants were engaged in a combination of theoretical and hands-on training sessions, facilitated by a team from Wadhwani AI, New Delhi. This approach ensured that attendees acquired a robust understanding of AI tools and methodologies pertinent to anthropometric data collection. On the final day, the training transitioned from the classroom to fieldwork, allowing participants to apply their acquired knowledge in real-world contexts while collecting data under supervision.

The program concluded with a thorough debriefing session in which the Director of KSPH, Prof. Bhuputra Panda, who is also the P.I of the study expressed gratitude to all the trainers, core team members, participants and other members for their dedication and commitment.  The training was facilitated by Co-PIs, doctoral scholars, and non-teaching staff members of KSPH.

We are confident this initiative will offer significant advancements in the application of artificial intelligence within the domain of public health, particularly on addressing child nutrition and growth monitoring. Further updates on the project’s progress will be forthcoming.
