Ongoing Research Projects:

Prevalence of Mycobacterium bovis using Comparative Intradermal Tuberculin Test on Cattle in Smallholder Peri-Urban Dairy Farms in Bhubaneswar

  1. October 24, Participated Asia Pacific Alliance for the Control of Influenza: APACI Influenza Workshop at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

School of Public Health becomes a full member of CUGH

School of Public Health  has now become a full member with voting rights of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) - an Washington DC based Global Health organization comprising of 142 world renowned universities and organizations including Harvard University.

Dr. Sudhir Kumar Satpathy, Director, School of Public Health has participated in following international Training Workshop/ Meetings /Conferences:

1.September 26-27, Participated as a Mentor in the Zoonoses Research Training Workshop at PHFI, Gurgaon.

2.September 16-19, Participated the General Assembly apart from Dean and Director’s Meeting at Asia Pacific Academic Consortium of Public Health (APACPH) at Teikyo University, Tokyo, Japan

3.September 7-9, Participated (on Invitation) in Global Social Economic Forum (GSEF) Conference at Montreal, Canada.

4.June 21-22, Participated (on Invitation) in AIDF Asia Summit, UN conference Hall, Bangkok, Thailand.

5.June 1-2, Participated (on Invitation) as Public Health Expert in the DRIVE-AB High level Conference – Amsterdam, Netherland.

 

Director, School of Public Health elected Interim Chair SEA CUGH

Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Kumar Satpathy, Director, School of Public Health, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India has been elected as Interim Chair of South East Asian Consortium of Universities for Global Health (SEA CUGH). by the founding members comprising of Samath Dharmaratne (Sri Lanka), Muhuiddin Haider (University of Maryland), Sudhir Satpathy(India), Balakrishna Shetty(India), Rakesh Srivastava (India), Anvar Velji(University of California),  and officials of CUGH based at Washington DC, USA (Keith Martin, Executive Director;  Dalal Najjar, Director of Operations; Amy Kasman, Administrative Assistant) in a meeting held on 14th July 2016.

The Interim Secretariat of SEACUGH is located at School of Public Health, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha State, India.

SEACUGH will be a consortium of the Universities/ Institutions from the countries in the South- East Asia Region of WHO, already working/ having interest in the field of Global Health. SEACUGH will provide a vibrant platform for exchange of knowledge and know how, and collaboration in the areas of capacity building, research and service on Global Health among academia, practitioners, policy makers and implementers. The team in the interim office at School of Public Health, KIIT University is working out the preliminary details to take it forward.

April, 2016

  • “Impact Assessment Study of Rotavirus Vaccine” started from 1st February, 2016 in collaboration with Christian Medical College, Vellore.

International Award:

  • Dr. S. K. Satpathy, Director received the “CUGH 2016 Velji Global Health Education Award(Faculty)" from the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) at the 7th Annual Conference held at San Francisco, USA on 10th April, 2016.

  • Dr. S. K. Satpathy, Director, participated in the Geneva Health Forum and World Health Summit in Geneva, Switzerland from 19th - 21st April, 2016.

March, 2016

  • Assessment of WASH interventions at health facilities in three priority districts (Koraput, Malkanagiri & Kandhamala), Odisha State in collaboration with UNICEF and KIIT School of Rural Management.
  • “Impact Assessment Study of Rotavirus Vaccine” started from 1st February, 2016 in collaboration with Christian Medical College, Vellore.
  • Research Priority Setting in Zoonotic Diseases

  • Dr. S. K. Satpathy, Director, participated in the WHO and Lancet Commission on Global Surgery meeting, New Delhi on 11th March 2016.

National:

  • Dr. S. K. Satpathy, Director, participated in the Annual Conference of Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) at Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Dehradun during 4th - 6th  March 2016.
  • Dr. S. K. Satpathy, Director, participated in the Malaria Meeting at RMRC (ICMR) Bhubaneswar on 22nd March, 2016.

Collaboration and Training:

In collaboration with NHM, Govt. of Odisha, following training programs was organized in March, 2016 at KSPH.

  • Two days (1st Batch ) Refresher Training on ‘Programme and Finance Management’ for PHC(N)s ( for  Project Coordinators and NGO representatives ) under PPP  at KSPH during 21st – 22nd  March 2016.
  • Two days (2nd Batch ) Refresher Training on ‘Programme and Finance Management’ for PHC(N)s ( for Project Coordinators and NGO representatives ) under PPP  at KSPH during 28th – 29th March 2016.

January, 2016

Opening of a new centre named as “Centre for Innovation and Research on Health Impacts”(CIRHI):
A new centre named CIRHI under KSPH was inaugurated by Prof. P. P. Mathur, Vice –Chancellor of KIIT University on 22nd January, 2016. The Centre will brainstorm and undertake innovations and research on Health System issues such as accessibility, affordability, Quality, Governance, Standards, and Universal Health Coverage/assurance including Universal Surgical Care. It will also address the local, national and global health issues and their impact on health of the people through innovations and research.

  • Dr. S K Satpathy, Director, was the Chief Guest  of the  workshop on Health Management  organized by VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi on 21st Jan 2016
  • Dr. S K Satpathy, Director, participated in the RCZI research group meeting held at PHFI New Delhi during 17-20 Jan 2016 and  interacted with CRTI/IDRC Canada members at New Delhi during 19 Jan 2016

  • Three days refresher training for ANM at KSPH during  28-30 Jan 2016
  • State level review meeting on NUHM program was organized at KSPH on 25 Jan 2016 in collaboration with NHM, Dept HFW, Govt. of Odisha
