Goals & Objectives

  • KIIT School of Public Health (KSPH) prepares the next generation of public health professionals, managers, health policy makers, public health practitioners, research leaders and academicians.

  • To start with, KIIT School of Public Health(KSPH) provides short term training opportunities from the current academic year (2015-16) and onwards for those serving persons who want to upgrade their knowledge and skills in public health. The school offers 2-year Master of Public Health (MPH) degree and PhD courses from the academic year 2016-17 and onwards.

  • KSPH provides an active, student centred special learning environment with modern facilities in class room, community and facility based field practice areas and internship through partnering and collaborating organizations. Thus KSPH provides opportunities for problem solving and promotes development of professionalism in public health.

  • The organizational structure of KSPH incorporates the vision, goals, objectives and values of public health and inculcates leadership, innovation, communication and provides institutional rewards for good work.

  • Faculties of KSPH are highly qualified and of national and international repute and are drawn from multiple disciplines. KSPH has the other support manpower, physical facilities and learning resources to provide appropriate platform for research, education and service in public health.

  • KSPH aims at achieving a national ranking among top 10 leading public health schools in the country within 5 years and international accreditation in 7 years or earlier.

  • KSPH have to advance public health research and its application in public health policy, practice and programs at different levels in collaboration with Government, Non-government and international partners. The huge laboratory facilities available in School of Bio-technology, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and other schools of KIIT University and the facilities available at community level in rural, tribal. Urban, industrial, mining and tourist areas will be used. Working with other KIIT Schools KSPH can undertake most advance researches including genetic epidemiology.

  • KSPH to foster Innovations in Quality service provision to the community in rural, tribal, urban and industrial areas (Point of care Kiosks, screening, service linkage, community effort, behaviour change etc).

  • The school has a strategic plan and road map for further development and evaluation of its instructional, research and service activities.

  • KSPH will proactively strive to explore new partners and widen its existing collaboration and partnership with local, state, country and international agencies in government and NGO sectors for the cause of public health education, research and service..

  • KSPH will develop its departments further to be recognized as Centres of excellence. It is envisaged to set up at least one such centre of excellence within 5 years.

  • KSPH is well aware of the sensitivity, perception and needs of its students, faculty and the community it serves.

  • KSPH also prepares Public Health Domain Specialists such as Health Behavior Specialists, Health Economists, Health Communication specialists, health management specialists etc.

  • KSPH will establish a Public Health Laboratory of its own
